I think that there are some chairlift paint schemes we like and some we just don't like for whatever reason.

Here are some of my favorites:

I think the Kensho SuperChair takes my crown for favorite "paint" scheme:

The Crested Butte high speed quads come in second place for best paint job:

The Storm Peak Express lift has my third place paint job:

Fourth would be 'Vail blue':

I've got a couple favorites, in no particular order. Sorry about the varying sizes.

Snowbird's Gad 2 and Little Cloud.

Iron Mountain Express at Canyons.

Finally, Winter Park's Panoramic Express.

I really like the light blue at Snowbird, especially the bottom terminal of GadZoom (they repainted the bottom but not the top). The old Quadzilla paint job at Waterville gets funny points. Ugliest is the whatever you want to call it at Telluride.

Kaatskill Flyer at Hunter Mountain is one of my favorites.

I also like the way Killington paints it's lifts, especially the Skye Peak Express.

Skye Peak Express font looks sort of like the kinds of fonts predominant in London transit systems.

Whistler-Blackcomb's new grey and red terminals look really sharp. If only they would paint all their lifts like that...

Here is my least favorite. This is at my area and is the ugliest paint color choice I have ever seen. Hopefully we will be Painting this lift I've always thought that dark green looks good on towers and the terminals. I do like the green slats on the chairs they look ok. This yellow and bright green need to go!!Attached File  Lift3.jpg (890.91K)

The brown mixed with yellow on Kaatskill is pretty ugly. I guess I prefer reds, blues, dark greens and gray scale.

I do like the dark Green that Deer Valley uses on their lifts. Off topic, did you guys leave the foot rests off, or not purchase them from Deer Valley?

We removed the footrest and made a trade with them for some more chairs needed to complete the lift also we had to come up with another tower. I do have to admit she came out nice for a used lift. We repainted the lift the same color we got it.

I'm happy Sunday River finally completed the repaint of all lifts into 1 theme. The black and red terminals with grey or black towers and chairs looks sharp and sure beats the old mismatch of brown, black and blue terminals we used to have in addition to some red and black ones.

Did the extra tower come from DV as well? Glad to see it found a new home, it's one of Deer Valley's original lifts

Mt Bohemia for sure

I'm not a fan of our orange. B, E, and H came green from the factory and we repainted I to match; while every second ski area in the US is green it at least looks nice. Now that I've had a chance to see them I like Snowbird's blue as well.

Before the Forest Service started weighing in on paint jobs (they like them to be low-key and blend in with their surroundings) ski areas all used to paint things bright colours like Bohemia and Taos. I recall Snoqualmie Pass looking like a vertical circus when I was a kid. Old chair 1 at Crystal used to be bright blue towers and terminals, while the chairs were fire-engine red.

On our Stadelis the Bullwheels are Bright Orange. The return bullwheels have been repainted the same color look kinda cool for older lifts. The top bullwheels are less visible from far cause of the big drive buildings over them. The new skytrac being built this year has already brought up color issue from USFS somebody came to them with concern about the silver bullwheels the top bullwheel will be too shiny (I personally love shiny new lifts) so we will have to repaint it. Our trucks are our lift up the mountain all summer and hands down we probably have the ugliest painted trucks!Attached File  IMG_20130722_092047.jpg (635.95K)

I guess the American Flyer and American Eagle lifts were built before the Forest Service weigh-in began. Admittedly, yeah, they looked much better in pure red rather than an orange-red. That's why the Super Bee, Excelerator, and Union Creek lifts came green to begin with, but the Timberline Express was black with white tops until 2011 when it became gray with green tops.

Old Payday triple at Park City had a blue terminal with pink accents, if I remember right. You can still see the old bright blue paint on parts of King Con there. Now everything is plain black or galvanized. The detachable terminals used to have black and red accents on them, and now they're just plain white too.

The Canyons' orange is nice on the terminals, but the cream colored towers on a few lifts are a little much
