Don't know, since they just announced it. Even if we were to buy it we wouldn't be installing it this summer, it's probably too late to start a project like that.

That's true, they might be wanting to reuse it at Purgatory also although I don't know where they would unless it is for some terrain expansion nobody knows about. Their master plan showed a lift planned to the left of lift 6 but it will likely sit ddismantled in a boneyard somewhere for awhile first.

Another detachable going in at Sugar Mountain, NC.
-Doppelmayr six pack replacing the Summit 1 lift
-Summit 1 (Hall double with CTEC mods) relocated to become an upper mountain lift
-Summit 2 (Doppelmayr double) shortened lower mountain lift

By my count Doppelmayr is building at least 15 lifts this summer - 2 gondolas, 5 high speed quads, 4 six packs, 3 quads and a T-Bar

Not directly related to new lifts, but Summit 1 at Sugar Mountain had 3 mid-stations!

It looks like Mt. Bachelor's new HSQ referred to by many as the Sunriver Express / East Side Express is on hold for the foreseeable future. The reasoning again this year from what I've heard is because of Powdr's court/attorney fees with Vail Resorts and poor conditions this season. The lift line has been cut and marketed every year that it will go in "next season".

A new detachable quad for 49 Degrees North! Plus I think another fixed grip chairlift as well for 2017.

Reading that press release it doesn't sound like either lift will be built this summer. 49N barely operated 50 days this winter.

You're right, sorry to mislead everyone. According to their Facebook page, "infrastructure with local utility providers, water system development, snowmaking infrastructure, and hospitality yurts and restroom facilities in Sunrise Basin are expected to be completed this summer."

The local indie newspaper in Durango has printed that the Chair 8 replacement at Purgatory will be a Leitner-Poma HSQ, with a 5-minute ride time. The midway station will be nixed with a new switchback trail to allow for intermediate skiers to bypass the steep slopes below the current midway. They are also planning to cut 3 new advanced runs to the west of the new Legends lift.

Chair 4 is planned to be replaced with a FG triple, but I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to replace that one with a new lift since it is used fairly heavily. The planned "Gelande lift" would leave from the overflow parking lot along US-550 just south of the main entrance, and primarily be just an access lift. The slopes leading down to that lot would likely be too steep to build anything less than a black diamond trail. Plus those eastern aspects above the Gelande lot usually only hold snow for a week or so after most storms. That said, the used Legends triple might fit the bill for an access lift perfectly.

We had thought that chair 4 would be a HSQ as well, but if they are thinking a FGT, then the old chair-8 which is currently a FGT could fit the bill if they want to tear out the 76 Riblet and replace it with the 85 Poma.. Unless they have the funding squared away for a new FGT. I'm hoping it will end up being an HSQ though.

At a private club, nothing is overkill.

In a email news letter I received, Christmas Mountain, WI is replacing one of their lifts. No other info was given.

What about a 200ft tall 3S that does 4,000pp/h?

Hmm, from the airport to the top of the hill. Good deal for 300k. Anyone want to pitch in and plane pool?

This just in... the platter lift at Loveland Basin is in the process of being removed for a "brand new chairlift" from the bottom of the platter to the top of current lift 2. They are calling it "Ptarmagin lift" but it is lift 2B on the master plan. The current lift 2 will be shortened to terminate at the mid-unload. I received this information via Email from Loveland after noticing the platter lift with no haul rope and some sheaves removed and inquired about what was going on. This project will be very good for Loveland and should help better distribute ski ability levels. They were not specific about type of lift and manufacturer but my guess is Leitner-Poma triple. Feel free to correct me if my guess is incorrect. They were very specific that none of the equipment removed from the current lift 2 would be reused though.

Nothing like waiting until the last minute.... although they may have been sitting on this until the area closes. Good for them, though.

With the addition of "Ptarmigan", this is what Loveland Basin's lift system will look like in 2015, if I had to guess:

Number of downloads: 105

I can only imagine the modifications that will have to be done to the existing #2 to end it at the mid-unload. I don't think they'll have to change anything below tower 12 (the tower that #2 crosses over #6 on). But the downhill line on tower #13 will have to be lowered to the same level as the uphill line, and the shack on the downhill side of the line at the mid-unload will have to be moved across to the uphill side of the lift line, not to mention those two half-towers built to create the mid-unload will have to be modified, probably into a single hold-down tower with sheaves on both sides, and possibly a new return station. I wonder why they even modified the reload area to have a mid-unload on #2 in addition to the mid-load back in 2012?

I think this has been in the pipe since last year and they signed with LP quite awhile ago now..

You're probably right.
Donald, more than likely the whole lift will be redesigned. The truncated lift 2 will be less than half the length of its predecessor and will have different tension, drive horsepower requirements, and tower loads.
