Sandia Peak NM - Lift 1 - 1963 Stadeli Double.
"Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish—a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow—to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested . . . Res ipsa loquitur (it speaks for it self). Let the good times roll." HT

That is pretty sad. As others have mentioned, Stadelis are slowly going away as time passes and are rather rare (23 left in the US). Judging by the damage I see, that looks like it will need a new haul rope, a new dignified smooth wood terminal, a new drive, and new chairs in case any were in the fire. And judging by how it was not used that much, I wonder if it will just be removed, although they will need to get those cell antennas back up.

Sun Valley is not going to replace it. It was being dismantled the last I heard and may already be.

Towers were flown out last week along with Sunnyside's towers. I'm a little surprised Lookout was not removed as well. One of these years Cold Springs and Mayday will be replaced and Baldy will be 100% detach.

it's enough to make a grown man cry. Not sure how many Stadeli lifts are left in the USA at this point. All I know of are the Becker and Porcupine tripples at Snowbasin and I believe one 70s vintiage somewhere back east.

To my knowledge, we a few stadeli's in the east:
Sunnyside, World Cup (soon to be relocated) , High Country, Northside, Lower Meadows, and the abandoned Snow's Mountain at Waterville Valley, NH
Sunshine Double at Sugarbush, VT
oh and we have a couple stadeli surface lifts @ Waterville too.

Also in New Hampshire, Campton Mountain, just down the road from Waterville Valley, has a Stadeli double chair; Tenney Mt. has a Double chair (which was the first one built in the U.S. I believe) that is over 6,000 feet long, and also a platter lift; there was another double chair, but it has been removed from a housing development at Eastman.

I believe that you are missing one at Sugarbush Valley House.
