I know I'm posting this very late since the accident happened last season. On January 27, 2013 this happened at the bottom terminal of the Bear Peak Express at Mountain Creek. The panels on the underside of the terminal appear to have fell off and jammed a chair in them. This lift is a 1998 Doppelmayr high speed quad with UNI-M terminals, EJ carriers, and a top drive bottom tension if these things matter at all. This is a picture of what happened. Does anyone know what could've caused this?

That's...ummmm...interesting to say the least. Was it a particularly cold day? Knowing the NJ climate, the constant freeze-thaw cycle of 40 degree highs and 20 degree lows could've caused the bolts or glue (whatever's holding those panels on) to become cracked or fatigued.

The panels did not "fall off". If you do not know the true facts of a story please do NOT start rumors. The true facts are, that the 2 ski patrollers decided on their own to try to load a toboggan a different way than is our procedure. They saw in a magazine a sled loaded on a chair with the handles open and extended to the front. When they did this and the chair left the ramp the sled tilted forward, the handles dug in swinging the chair violently backward tossing the sled, the 2 patrollers out of the chair. The resultant forward swing of the chair caught it in the station skins, tearing a couple of them down as you see in his picture. I was there within minutes and my crew and I got everything out of the way and had the chair running in about 15 minutes. There were no injuries, except the pride and jobs of the 2 patrollers. This should be a lesson to us all not to go spreading stories that we do not know the full answer to. He did have the day and date correct. You can see the toboggan in the back round.

I am not trying to start rumors. I saw this when I came down to South and I wanted to know what happened. That is all. What story did I make up. All I posted is what I saw. I am not trying to make Creek look bad. I just wanted to know the story. I saw your crew fix it and they did a great job. One further question. Was the chair in the picture jammed in there when it came down normally and the chair the patrollers were on out of the picture?

Yes that chair was coming into the station and hit the panel that the other chair dropped. Yes the chair that the patrollers were in is not in the picture.

In post #1 you asked, "Does anyone know what could've caused this?", an invitation for others to speculate.

It would've been better to ask, "Does anyone know what happened".

I can also see that the handles are bent.

Lesson is never load T-bogs longitudinally on a chair with short hangers.
