Is it the lift from the Frozen movie? sure looks a lot like it.

If it is, then it would be Wildcat at Snowbasin.

Well yes, but maybe it is helpful for the people that don't know the answer, but want to know right away. Hopefully they just don't post the answer, though. The main thing is that next time I will make sure there isn't any giveaways hints.

This lift only runs on weekends and busy days. Would love to see if replaced with a HSQ and have snowmaking down Wild cat bowl. Snow was a little thin last year, but is a great run when it does have snow.

I have been to snowbasin a few times and have never ridden this lift because it never has been running. It might be because of the wolves that eat people when they are left on the chair.:-)

I can see why upgrading it to a high speed quad would be justified - it has its own pod. Frankly, Snowbasin needs to downgrade the gondola on Strawberry Peak to a high speed quad. That's a peak with good terrain of the type where high speed quad or six pack seems more suited to the job than the full service gondola.

The wolves are trained to eat only those who decide to jump from that chair. :) Rumor from a few years ago was to have a HSQ from the bottom of Strawberry gondola to the top of Dan’s run so on bad wind days/poor visibility when Strawberry is on hold or shut down, that area would still be skiable. Didn't hear anything like that last season, but i know they have a new mountain manager last season, so maybe that changed.

I never saw Frozen, but I believe it isn't that good to begin with.

When Snowbasin upgraded many of their lifts prior to the Olympics, it was built up for their future capacity. The fact that Strawberry is a gondy is fantastic, especially during storm days. While there is currently no real estate at the base area of Strawberry or the main lodge of Snowbasin, it doesn't mean that it won't happen. And if/when it does happen, they'll have the proper infrastructure in place to handle the crowds. As it is now, lines are practically non existent except when Strawberry is closed due to weather. It makes absolutely no sense to 'downgrade' Strawberry, it is a fantastic lift serving a great part of the mountain that I've never ridden with less than 6 other people, we appreciate being able to pile into 1 cabin as we usually have snacks and beverages to share. In my opinion, the mountain is perfect with plenty of lift access where/when needed and plenty of hiking access to keep the gapers away from where they don't belong.

Not everyone necessarily minds riding in gondolas, especially when the terrain is fairly long so you can ski for a while in between lift rides. It really doesn't take that long to take off skis, and the ride with more people and in enclosed cars is nice once in a while. I have lapped off several gondolas, especially at JH and W-B. That being said, I would not want to ride a gondola every run, and most areas should continue to be served by chairlifts. There are some places where gondolas make more sense, though, especially with their potentially higher capacity.

My idea is that gondolas can run anywhere on the mountain, though preferably out of a base, as long as there are also chairlifts right next to them to provide an alternate way up, preferably if those are high speed quads or six packs. I mean, for instance, Vail's Eagle Bahn Gondola has the Born Free Express and Pride Express right next to it to service the two parts of that area below Eagle's Nest, while Keystone put the River Run Gondola and Summit Express parallel to each other (and the Outpost Gondola has an alternate in the form of going down to Labonte's Cabin and using the Ruby Express or Santiago Express depending on which way you are transitioning).
