I was reading NSAA Ski Lift Safety Fact Sheet (attached) and was looking at an incident table on page 4 and saw the one for Sierra Ski Ranch, CA on 4/4/93 and the cause was Sheave battery failure with 1 fatalities. Does anyone know what a Sheave battery failure is?

At that day, I believe there was a Yan high speed quad installed.

Thanks!

A sheave battery is a sheave assembly is a sheave train.
The failure could have been a lead-in sheave failure; a deropement sensor failure; a misalignment problem, etc. etc.
I would assume there is more detail regarding the after-action report on this incident.

The after incident investigation revealed noises reported at that tower for days prior. Ended up a hub failed at the end. Wheel dropped straight down.

So was it in fact on a YAN HSQ? Assemblies with the "Cadillac Hub"?
I'm not that familiar with the YAN Detach line equipment.

It was a YAN HSQ, I know nothing more than that though but I know some people I could ask at the resort who might know.

From the few photos I've seen they had the Cadillac hubs as well, same as the fixed-grips.
