I really dont think Vail is going to buy any more resorts in thwe near future. They just bought Heavenly and Beaver Creek is putting in two new High Speeds. I think they are going to sit on what they areadly have.

I think they should. Killington is a decent resort and would be owrth the investment. I just don't see how american ski company is improving killington.

I just dont think ASC will sell killington. They will hold on to K-mart for as long as possible. They will sell other resorts before they would sell it. I think Les Otten is going to buy Sunday River very soon.

Hmm, that would be a shame to see killington go out of buisness.

Which do you think they would sell first, if they had to: The Canyons (which they tried to make their 'flagship' resort and dumped all their money into it) or Killington. Killington won't go out of business, but ASC is headed in that direction

Actually, it looks like The Canyons will be the last resort that ASC will sell, why? While reading SAM, I noticed that one of there was an investor from Texas who invested $143 million in ASC to help fund The Canyons project. So I'm guessing that most of the lift and a few base village buildings have been paid for in cash. However, I wonder how much money went into developing those ski in ski out houses. That probably wasn't very cheap and ASC probably spent a lot of money on The Colony.

Canyons is really the only ski area that is making ASC money. They will hold on to that one untill they sink. I hope they sell Killington soon every year they are hurting it. :crying:

I know, Killington has the terrain and yet if you compare it to Okemo, Okemo is doing better because the Muellers work hard on it. Killington needs some upgrading and some love but they have the raw terrain and that is the hardest part.

Killington hasn't added any new terrain since 82' with the expansion of sunrise. But killington has taken away trails on sunrise and rams head. Last lift was the K1

In my opinion someone should buy it, and do a major upgrade of the lifts, add some terrain and LOWER THE PRICE OF FOOD!!!! I mean really, it costs $4 for a hot dog.

The prices there are outrageous! A bottle of water costs three bucks. The lift tickets at Killington are about the same price (or less) than Western resorts that are over 4 times the size!

I have heard about Vail thinking about buying Killington because ASC isn't doing well financialy.

Did you notice that they actully gained trails when they closed Sunrise.... That makes sense? I hope vail buys K-mart it would be the best thing that could happen to Killington.

That does not make sense, they lost 5 trails.

but they got the idea of "upper" and "lower" trails

also i think most or all of the lost ramshead terrain will be back if they do the interconnect

Well currently, by looking at how bad ASC is doing, Killington might not have the funds to do the interconnect anytime soon, unless, hopefully, Vail Resorts will buy Killington.

To answer the original questions. Poma built the original rams head double. All lift info is on the locations section of my site and is 100% accurate if anyone is curious. As a season pass holder of 8 years I can state that K has plenty of terrain and lift capacity. The only lift upgrade they need is to replace skye peak quad with a detach. If you think there is a lack of terrain think beyond the map.
