So...anybody else have a facebook group for Lift Maintenance? So far, I've discovered Loon Mountain, Telluride, and Sunrise. Our Sunday River page is simply "Lift Maintenance." I have a feeling some resorts would put the kibosh to employees making a separate page...just seeing what's out there and other thoughts.

I started the Loon page as a place to share the many photos we've taken over the years and because I couldn't get into blogging (I was asked by marketing to contribute to the official Loon Blog) but was still interested in sharing what we do in lift maintenance. I found the pages for Telluride, Sunrise and Sunday River and liked the idea of using facebook for photos and short updates so I set up our page. Only one other mechanic is on facebook (he is an admin for the page) but old photos have been contributed by others too. I don't know where it will go but I'm happy with the first two weeks. Mechanics from other mountains have "liked" the page and commented and other ski lift pages have shared some of our pictures to audience around the world so people who like lifts are seeing our content.
I haven't received any feed back from Loon yet but I checked the employee handbook and I've decided our Page falls under the policy on blogging. Blogging about work by employees is accepted as long as they state the opinions in the blog aren't those of the company. I intend to keep opinions in our posts non-controversial to non-existent. You won't get any dirt about the company there. My intent is to write a bit about the daily grind, post pictures of interest and share interesting content from other pages related to the industry.

We don't, but I've 'friended' Telluride's and Loon's so far. Telluride's just makes me jealous with all the snow they have to shovel
