Mount Bohemia on October 18th found a crack in a tooth in its gearbox for the triple chairlift. We immeadiatly searched for a replacement gearbox that was compatible with the triple. None were found. We then extracted the gearbox from the triple chairlift and shipped it to a gearbox company to have parts custom made to replace the broken gear. The company informed us on Saturday that it will be ready by mid January and then shipped and installed shortly after that. This means the triple chair will not be ready until around Febaury 1st. We are very sorry about this but please understand we have tried every possible solution to find a quicker resolution. Please give us any comments or questions that you might have.

Comment: the triple lift gearbox was inspected on April 28th by ski lifts unlimited which is a lift installer and repair company. They took pictures and saw no cracks. On a visit on October 18th by another gearbox company they noticed a possible cracked tooth in the gears. A magnetic particle test was then done and showed indeed it was a cracked tooth.

Did Mount Bohemia provide any details about the type of gearbox they were looking for?

Seems unusual to have an inspection in April and then again in October.
I wonder if something happened while running it during the summer to warrant an additional inspection?

Must have, if I remember correctly they cancelled the fall color tour chair rides or they called in ski lifts unlimited after they couldn't start up.

In the summer http://www.regalauctionservices.com/ was trying to part out the Balsam's Wilderness Riblet double. Maybe they have the gearbox needed.
