Bear Valley, CA has just laid off the majority of its staff, specifically those responsible for lift and vehicle maintenance due to the poor snow year.

Visits fell from 140,000 (2010/11 season) down to 75,000 this year.

Bear Valley plans to operate this summer on a very limited basis for the camps and events that will be taking place there.

Bear Valley plans to open next winter, although plans are in place of how and when that will happen.
