SAM Magazine--June 11, 2012--According to published reports, a massive wildfire in New Mexico has damaged ski lifts at Ski Apache. The area fought the blaze, which has burned more than 35,000 acres in the Lincoln National Forest, with its own snowmaking equipment, setting up guns around its base lodge to ward off the flames. That effort, as of Monday, was successful. We will update this report as news comes in. In the meantime, here is footage from Ski Apache's webcam showing its firefighting efforts:

from June 26 report:

Move to Higher Ground at First Sign of Rising Water

Incident: Little Bear Fire Wildfire
Released: 5 days ago
Submitted by Lincoln County Emergency Services 4:00 pm June 26, 2012
Isolated thunderstorms producing lightning and areas of heavy rain are possible this afternoon over Lincoln County. Flash flooding is possible. Residents are being asked to be vigilant if they see or hear of rainfall moving into the area. Be prepared to move rapidly to higher ground at the first sign of rising water. Skies may be clear where you are but rain falling upstream through the areas affected by recent fires may move downstream more rapidly than usual. Consider evacuation routes that avoid main roads at the bottoms of canyons which can unexpectedly flood.Sandbags are available to residents at the Main Ruidoso Fire Department Station on Sudderth and at the Lincoln County Office of Emergency Services at Copper Canyon.
As the monsoons approach, heavy rainfall may produce flash floods. The National Weather Service Advisories are available at: http://www.weather.gov/abq. A predictive model for probability of thunderstorms over burned areas, known as Burn Scar Thunderstorm Threat Matrix, is available at: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/images/fxc/abq/graphicast/image full5.gif.
