Echo Mountain, located 34 miles West of Denver is set to be auctioned off in August. Gerald Petitt (owner) has decided to sell the resort since he does not have the resources or experience necessary to expand Echo's business model into the next relm, which includes summer operation.

More details can be found on Saminfo.com: http://www.saminfo.c...le.php?tid=5836

One thing that SAM does not mention is that Gerlad Petitt is in the business of flipping real-estate properties, specifically hotels. Therefore, Echo may not have been a long term business venture for Gerald Petitt since the resort opened in mid 2000.

It was later than that-- I didn't move here until '02 and it was still the old abandoned Squaw Pass area then. Hope it doesn't go under.

Echo won't go under, Gerry has already said that if the reserve is not met that he will continue to operate the ski area. They're coming off of their best season since the ski area reopened, hopefully things will only get better.
