Poma's High-speed Terminal Names

I recently received my SAM magazines and while reading them, I noticed a few things confused me that I didn't know or Poma has been changing the names of its high-speed terminals over the past few years. So, my question is, what are the names of all the Poma high-speed terminals that have been designed by Poma. Since they first entered the North American market in 1986 to today.

But to help understand and relate to what I'm talking about, this is the Poma Competition terminal. I thought this terminal was only used for about 3 to 4 years:

This is Poma's gondola terminal used from 93 to the late 1990s. I thought the name of this terminal was called the Challenger series, but in SAM, it's called the Competition:

Then there is this terminal design that was Poma's main terminal design in the 1990s. Is the name of this terminal called the Challenger or Competition?

Then while reading the construction site section in SAM, they said that Mt. Holly was installing a Poma 900 series high-speed quad? I saw only the entrance area of the terminal and it looks like it could either be the Omega terminal or the Competition/Challenger terminal. Maybe the 900 series was the name of the Omega terminal since this was in 1998 and the name hadn't been decided on yet.

Anyway, thanks for your guys help on this and I seen Poma changed the name of a few of its lifts terminals, like the Poma Phat Boy, but that could be the Omega terminal design that is used for the ski lifts that use AC drives?

The first terminals built in North America did not have a series name, as far as I'm aware (and it was '85, not '86- Summit at Winter Park and Falcon at Breck were '85 lifts). The carriers were called 'Falcon' after the lift, but the terminals were nameless. The '88-92 lifts were called the Competition series. The gray terminal you have with the disassembled carrier on the arrival side is an Omega, according to their ads. The Challenger might be the name for the fixed terminal of that same design. Their current terminal is an Omega, to go with the grip and chair. The only one I'm not really sure about is the Rainier Express and others like it; they have the older terminal guts and a newer shell, but it's not the Competition.

They call the new grip the 'Omega' so I guess the terminal that goes with it would be the Omega, and I think I remember from their website a while back that the terminal like the gray one is called the Challenger, and the American Eagle one is the Competition

Where did the name Phat Boy for the newer terminals come in?

Completely unsubstantiated rumour time: When Poma built the Super B they had to modify the terminal on-site to make the diesel engines fit in. The new design was incorporated into their standard production and one of the yard guys (welder, painter or somebody like that) called it the Phat Boy because it was bigger than their original terminal.

Does Poma actually call that terminal the Phat Boy, or is just a nickname? Because it doesn't exactly fit into the Greek letter trend, and they don't mention it on the website

It's an earlier Omega.

what you say is an earlier omega does not have the right grip, its got the TB-41

They changed the grip later.

I don't actually think that the name of the terminals that used the TB-41 grip were ever called the Omega terminal.

But here is a Poma advertisement introducing the new Phat Boy terminal. However, I don't see the double stack? Was Poma then using the term Phat Boy for HSS and Omega for its HSQ at this time?

There isn't a stack on the Quicksilver Super6. Was it built before or after the Super B at Copper?

Isn't the stack for the diesel drive? Quicksilver as far as I know does not have a diesel drive.

Quicksilver has to have a diesel dirve to meet code. If it didn't have a diesel drive and there is some type of electrical power failure, then a resort would click in the diesel. But since this lift doesn't have that great of vertical rise, it probably has a smaller motor.

I thought so at first too. It looks slightly better in person, like on the two new ones from last year at Breck (Independence HSS and the Peak 8 Superconnect

Quicksilver has a much smaller, single diesel standby engine. B-lift has twin KTA-29Ts which take up the entire motor room where they sit. They actually hang out over the walkway a bit.
I believe Indy has the stack on its motor room? I walked around it last year but I wasn't paying attention to that- the AC drive was much more interesting.

The independance does indeed have a stack. Also the mentioned above was that a resort was installing a 900 series quad. The E lift at copper which is an Omega is called a 1100 series quad. Straight from the Leitner Poma website.

I personally like the Phat Boy terminals, just not the name. Squaw's have to be some of the nicest lifts i have ridden. That ad though has to be one of the mosk corny things ever.
