Hello All,

I am rather new here, this is one of my first posts. I've always been interested in ski lifts, however I can never seem to find any info on this fixed-grip manufacturer "SLI". What does that stand for? When were they active? I've always thought it was "Ski lifts International" or "Ski Lifts Incorporated" or something. Their lifts show up around the US, but there is not many left that I can find; they're all rather old. All Fixed doubles. Just curious...

Homewood, CA had a 'older' picture of a Quad chair in their bar area, I was assuming it was a SLI (the bail looked SLI-ish), but wikipedia is claiming they only built doubles. I also got to ride on my first SLI last week, Heavenly's Galaxy chair...just wish I have had a six-pack.

They did in fact build a quad up at Homewood, it was the only non double they ever built. Would love to see that picture, as everyone who ever saw the lift I've met, and also one of the guys that headed the installation termed it as 'a beast'. Must have been a massive thing. Don't know why they straight jumped from doubles to one quad, but it might have been a test of sorts as their HQ was down in Incline Village not far away from Homewood.

Thanks for all the info guys, that was great. I saw the Wikipedia entry just after I posted this thread, so I felt a little stupid. Wikipedia didn't have much to say anyway. I read the other post, and the European side to SLI makes allot more sense; I was wondering where the "International" in this seemingly small American company came from.
