Yesterday I noticed something on load chairlift at Brighton and never see it before. It is a newer. I don't know what it called. It is different than carpet or conveyor. It helps to make skiers and snowboarders stay without slip. It looks like "sticky" black lines.

See the picture.

Maybe it is the wood foundation for the snow to build up on?

They can walk, ski or snowboard on it until red line "here" without any slip also helps slow down easy and very smooth. I can feel that something stops me over red line.

I just want to know what it called.

Looks similar to our ramps - ours our puckboard strips on top of a wood frame. Makes the ramp easy to maintain.

It looks like a ramp design Boyne was encouraging its New England resorts to adopt a few years ago. Basically as Allan described. 1x4 inch board of a plastic material placed perpendicular to the ramp about a shovels width apart and filled in with snow. The vertical boards support the weight of the skiers and help slow snow compaction and icing.
