Anyone out there have a written procedure or protocol for rescuing people hanging from a chairlift? Do you use nets or pads and do they work? Who is responsible for the training, Lift Maintenance, Ski Patrol, or Lift Operations? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Of course you need an abundance of people for the 'fireman's net'. I've used one years ago and it actually worked. Bystanders in the maze are a big help.
Training at our place is vons' responsibility as a lift operations supervisor. Patrol is only involved in a lift breakdown scenario.

We have a short instruction for "hangers" (or misloaded passengers). I don't have it here, but if you send me a message with your email address I will forward a copy to you. At our Ski Area, it's Lift Ops that are usually there first and a call goes out via radio by our Dispatcher for all with snowmobiles to automatically respond. I have a huge "hanger" bag that I made (about 6X10 vinyl bag filled with foam) or tower pads to stack underneath in the event they fall instead of getting helped back in the carrier.
