In the spring of 2011, a group of College boys came to Mount Mancelona and shot a ton of footage of the grounds for a film project. This just happened to be THE DAY I was installing the gas engine on my 1956 Doppelmayr T-bar project. They were SUPPOSED to send me a DVD... but I haven't seen it, yet.

BUT,..... I DID happen to run across it, online... after performing a random Yahoo search of "Historic Mount Mancelona".

For College students,..... they did a FABULOUS job with this vid.

Yeah,..... that figures.

Everyone has seen this but me.

Well, that's okay. Perhaps they may return this year and get some good shots of some REAL snow and a 100-percent operational Antique T-bar!

Either way,..... we'll be making videos of our own. :luv:

It looks to be a snowy winter. Tree trimming the lift line..... it should be #1 priority. Thanks for the mini tour.

Great film, now we really have a full idea of what Mancelona is like and how worthwhile your mission of getting at least one lift going is.

I'm almost inspired to go up to the hills and resurrect an abandoned ski lift that I know about on Mt Wills, but the environmental red tape and liability insurance make it an impossible task around here.

P.S. Those two antique snow vehicles are amazing, I know a bloke in Tasmania who collects elderly snow mobiles and he would give almost anything to play with them! :taz:

I just uploaded another video about my favorite neurosis onto my YouTube channel. This was a "P.R." local news report on the place back in 1994, when it was opening for business as a snowboard park.

They never gave the T-Bar a single brain-cell of thought,... they just installed a rope-tow underneath it that only went halfway up the hill. (There was NO WAY IN HELL they were ever going to get the electrical controls in opeating condition..... let alone the motor... so they just put in a rope-tow).

I only met Joe (the owner) just about a year or so before this news piece went out.

I've had this clip sitting around on VHS since 1994..... it was about time I transferred it to digital.

Enjoy!!!
