What programs have you used, seen, liked, disliked, or is it just not worth the set up time and cost?

Hello Tim,

First of all, its wonderful to see someone with an interest in such an important subject as Maintenance Management and the proven systems which help better manage those responsibilities. To answer your question, I have personally demoed and sold dozens of CMMS programs over the years of which there are over 375 listed in the http://www.plant-maintenance.com website. This makes it very difficult and a challenge when trying to resource a solution that's not only affordable but also supports the ski industries direct needs. I think this has become a personal choice for many areas based on the experience and knowledge of the person or persons responsible for selecting, purchasing and implementing these types of systems. I'm sure there are success stories but I would bet there are many more failed solutions based on the comments I made earlier. So if someone is recommending a solution I would suggest you inquire about the successes.

Secondly, it is definitely not worth the setup time or cost if you fail to understand what obtainable benefits can be realized when a system is properly implemented by a vendor that clearly understands your goals and objectives and has the industry background and experience to support meeting those objectives. Each vendor has its own vertical market expertise and supports those industries with proven track records. On the other hand, there is no vendor at the present time that I am aware of that offers not only the experience but an application that the average ski area maintenance team can afford, easily learn, and implement.

It is a proven fact that CMMS systems do provide very positive results as it does in millions of businesses worldwide if implemented properly with follow-up and support from representatives that fully understand your industries direct needs. The key benefit is having a system that helps maintenance run their department as a business by ensuring it functions efficiently, takes care of its regulatory responsibilities, optimizes safety, reliability, performance, extended operational life of the equipment at the same time reducing overall servicing costs.

Hope this gives you a little insight if your looking for a solution. Send me a message if you would like to know more.

Cheers!

Completely agree.
We have gone through several. They have ranged from Bad to Worse. Personally, I've had a long look at this marketplace and there isn't anything particularly compelling that would suit a ski area, as stated in the comment above. If I worked at a smaller ski area,I'd be compelled simply to use a standard Office Suite or Google Drive along with Google Calendar to their fullest extent. At one of the other places where I work.we're about to get something called GuideTi.
