Anyone has any info about it?
Rumor says that the rope came off the bullwheel at the top terminal.

From Beaver Mountain's site:

"Due to a mechanical issue on the Little Beaver Lift, which cannot be quickly repaired, the Little Beaver Lift will not run for the rest of the season. "

At a $100,000 to repair I would think it's not a sheave wheel

Little Beaver has a floating return bullwheel and I can only assume the $100,000 involves installing a fixed return terminal.

Looking at the pictures of the return station for that lift posted on this website, it looks as if the rope came off the wheel on the underside, the results could be catastrophic (wheel goes crashing down and the whole line falls to the ground) Did the rope come off on the top side of the wheel or is there some type of catching system I am not seeing which prevens this from happening? Since there were no injuries I assume the entire line did not fall. Are there any photos available?

We had a deropement off of a floating Miner Denver return station at Santa Fe in the 60s. The rope came off to the top and if this happened at Beaver then it was probably similar. In our case the rope was not damaged, some chair hangers snapped off and a sheave carriage was destroyed. The lift ran for 25 more years.
