I know for sure that I like skiing in any weather as long as I can see where exactly I am going and easily distinguish run features. :) And I like skiing when there's good weather and plenty of white trees.

What are your 'ideal' skiing conditions?

Or maybe this is all pure gibberish—a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow—to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested . . . Res ipsa loquitur (it speaks for it self). Let the good times roll." HT

I third Aug's opinion. Failing that, as long as the wind hasn't polished off the runs to a mirror finish it's all good.

2 feet of champagne pow on a bluebird day sounds pretty ideal to me.

Skiing is Skiing. I'll take it whenever and wherever. A few years ago I wintered in Tahoe. It was the "worst year" in a decade. People complained. I'm from the midwest. I told them to deal with it and went out in the rain, and the wind, and the warm days, and the cold days and did everything in my power to see to it that every inch of the "little" (more than 200 inches) snow we got was utilized.

Having said that, Powder Days and Spring skiing motivate me the most. Impeccable groomers (not to forget the guys working all night) where the snow holds you enough to lay out nice tracks while reaching out and touching the snow are hard to beat as well.
