What’s on my mind…? Yesterday like every day we shut down the lifts at 4PM, at 5 PM I was informed we had a lost skier. At 7PM we fired a lift back up for patrol to try another sweep of the place we thought he was. My partner and I then set out on snowmobile for a perimeter search; you know how big the perimeter is? A track was found by a snow cat heading out of area to the east. The search than sent us backcountry on sleds, two patrol on skins following the track. (temp 10 deg). Around 11pm a DPS helicopter spotted the lost BOARDER, but was out of fuel. The trackers continued to follow the trail as the snowmobiles continued to try and locate the trackers. At 12PM the trackers located the lost boarder with the assistance of the now refueled helicopter (even though they did not need the assistance of the helo... because they were following the dumbasses trail). The helicopter was able to spot us on snowmobiles and head the search party our way. At 2AM after riding (no kidding) 50 miles, (getting stuck twice) we hauled the searchers and lost boarder back into area. By 2:30AM I was back home, by 3:30AM I was asleep… Now its 6:30AM and I am back at work!
To you who wish to go into the backcountry… THINK! Many people worked on getting your ASS out of the shit. And for what a few turns in the POW.
PS… Hawk, you’re an animal!!!
What now?

Hopefully you got paid overtime. (I am sure you did) Now you just need to catch up on sleep.
