While on squaw's village website i came across a picture of the village at buildout. The interesting thing about the picture is that the village takes up a large portion of the current parking lot.

Now on this forum we have been wondering the purpose of the Far East Express lift, and this picture may explain all that. If the village really is built this way, that means parking will be shifted back behind the village and closer to the far east lift rather then the cable car area and the main base. Now Far East will probably be used to move people out of the parking lot and to the main area if you would rather ski then walk to the funitel and all the other lifts. Here is the village now and the parking situation. I am guessing that a 2 story parking garage would be built to make up for the loss of spaces. Squaw seems to already be getting ready with the construction of a new bridge to the back end of the lot. What do you guys think will happen becasue i doubt they would have built a 6-pack for no real reason.

I thought that they were supposed to have two levels of underground parking, with one level for the Village parking and one for the day skiers. The parking lot by Far East would not be enough to serve all day skiers.

No, they will not build an underground one. It would be impossible for them to get permisson for that. Squaw Creek is bad enough as it is, and an underground lot would put soo much sediment and other crap in the creek. They probably got into enough trouble when the diverted it, so this would never happen.

Wait...

I thought they were having a two level UNDERGROUND parking structure directly under the village. At least that was my understanding of the project.

THey do have an underground one under all the buildings, really only 1 story down becasue the village is actually raised over the main lot. I was thinking for the day use when they finished the village all the way out to the creek.
