I saw this posted on the snow journal forums. I thought that the users of this forum would find it interesting. I do not agree with everything that is written in the particular article; I am just posting it here so others can see. My opinion is that it is a little over critical of Yan lifts, although there is no surprise there.

I tried to contact the guy but his 'contact' info comes up blank. I don't think the tone he uses about Yan is necessary.

Yes it is odd that Yan was the only company he names. With 56 accidents listed only three Yan, one would have to think another company would have at least as meny as Yan. Would have been interesting to see all companies listed.

No, the tone isn't necessary - but coming from someone outside the industry, it isn't surprising. One's tendency to criticize Jan lessens with real knowledge of the incidents and of the man, but then, the facts are the facts. The history has been written.

It sounds like a person who knows "just enough to be dangerous." Quite pointedly, we all know that surface lifts such as tow ropes can be particularly dangerous if precautions (such as loose hair and clothing being tucked in) aren't taken, but there is very little mention of that or any incidents. It is interesting that this appears to be a retail group of some variety because there is a "Products" section.
