I finally have a decent press and would like ideas for an "attachment" for pressing Hall and Riblet sheave liners on to the sheaves.

Thanks

Our Riblet liners were soft enough we used a mallet to pound them over the cone and onto the sheave hub. If they didn't get all the way down the bolted flange would take care of the rest. If you want to press the liners on, though, you could make a 'spider', which is a piece of plate with six-eight legs long enough to push the liner over the cone without bottoming out. I've also used a piece of pipe with a plate welded on top, though that's much heavier.

Try a rock taped to a stick wrapped in bailing wire!
