Though this would be an appropriate topic since winter is beginning to descend upon us. Being a fellow back country explorer I know the condition and situations that can rapidly present themselves.
A couple years ago I was in Telluride out for a day hike. It started out cloudy with light snow fall. I had my clear lens in and assumed that I had my dark in my pack. Well, I didn't. The sun came out with vengeance. Woke the next morning to snow-blind eyes.....it sucked!!
