Maybe KLM is painting some of theirs in NWA colors and lending them out or NWA and KLM have a hybrid plane with both paint schemes on it.

Yes, but I've heard that teleportation would actually create a duplicate of the body at the other end, not the body that was sent. The body that was sent would be destroyed. Teleporation wouldn't work as well as we'd like it to.

Yeah, Teleportation is out of the question for this century. You wouldn't live through it (your clone would). It's supposed to be very painful and your body is destroyed.

Well no one really has any idea what it would feel like since all they have teleported are single atoms only a few nanometers or something like that. I wouldn't judge anything out.

Yes, it might be possible, but would take a while. I think it will be a while before teleportation is made economical enough.

This happened just today. Boeing has released the 777-200LR, which will replace the A340-500 as the longest range jetliner. There is news on it at www.boeing.com

I thought the 777-200LR came out like 3 or 4 years ago, because there has been information on Boeings site about this plane for a long time.

They have had the idea for it and have been marketing it (though not doing well, just 5 orders) although this is actually the first real plane. Maybe once the plane has been certified they will get more orders. The 777 has been a very sucessful airplane family.

The 777-200LR is a niche aircraft and won't rack in the orders like it's family siblings however it was partially a postering for the 777-200F which will be based off the 777-200LR. This will enable the developement costs to remain low and also be a more capable aircraft.

I don't think that it will sell as well as others, but I would think that it would sell better than it has been. It is pretty similar to the A340-500. This is because there are not too many routes that need 9000 mile ranges. I will try and find out how many A340-500's have sold so far.

Ok, so we don't expect amazing numbers from the 777-200LR based on its main competitor.

I would have thought that there would be more airlines buying the 777-200LG because of its fuel economy. If you think about the amount of fuel that these planes take each year, this could save a lot of money. I know if I owned an airline or had billions of dollars, I would buy one if I need one.

Singapore Airlines has been rumored to not be happy with its A345s and wants to replace them with 772LRs. We'll have to wait on that one

Unless they really need that kind of distance and capacity, airlines would be buying the 787 instead of the 777-200LR. The 787-900 can hold 257 passengers in a typical 3 class configuration and a range of 8,300 nm according to Boeing. The 777-200LR, on the other hand, has 301 passengers in a 3 class configuration that goes about 9,400 nm.

I do think that Sing. could buy some 772LR's, they already have many Boeing Planes.

I doubt that, the 777 is a very popular plane and near 57% of all airlines have at least one. The 777LR probably isn't the best idea. Most routes don't need that kind of range. 1/2 way around the world isn't too much more than 9000 miles (about 3000 more miles). I think that either the A380 or the 787 will sell better than that.

According to Boeing only 38 unique airlines and leasing companies have ordered the 777. If 57% of all airlines own at least one 777 this means that there would have to be only 67 airlines in the world to support your claim and there are far more then 67 airlines in the world. Why there are more then that in the US. The fact is that yes the 777 is a very succsuesful plane and is a fantastic aircraft but please do not generalise or put figures out there you can't support.

The A380 might be more of a niche aircraft than you think, Boeinglover. It is designed for capacity and range, not as a common day to day aircraft. As a family, it will sell more than the 777-200LR, but it won't rack up as many orders as some think. My guess is that they will mainly be used in the very high capacity routes in East and South-East Asia, but won't be too common in the U.S., except on international routes.

The 777 has currently sold 673 airplanes and 500 have been delivered. I seriously doubt that the A380 will get close to that, unless it is very successful, in which Boeing might react.
