Could be. They probably are also hoping that one day they will have them flying in but thats wishful thinking. Imagine the slope crowding if they did.

DIA (Denver Intl) is going to be prepared for the A380 in 2007. They are spending big $$$ on this project and are considering building a new terminal for the beast. British Airways, surprisingly, will not be taking orders of either of the new aircraft until certification is over (thus with all of its planes). This is quite a shocker because BA was the projected biggest customer for the A380. San Fransisco is completely ready for the aircraft and many Middle-East airports have built new terminals for this plane. The 787 has more orders to replace older airbuses than the Boeings it's supposed to replace. Hopefully they both will do good and I hope that none of you are as biassed as Highspeedquad is about Boeing.

Dubai is preparing for Emirates Airlines' 43 A380s on order. It's building all sorts of new stuff for the A380

Well, Alot of Middle-Eastern airlines are ordering airbuses. More European airlines are ordering 787s.

I just dobut that DIA will be a big destination served by the A380 since there are so few large flights and very few international flights as compared with other international airports of the same size.

I'm not biased against Airbus but I have yet to fly on a comfortable Airbus product. I'm really looking forward to see if airlines actualy keep with the conceptual designs for the A380 with the grand staircase, potential for individual sleeping berths, and possible shops. Or if the airlines will opt for just cramming as many seats in as possible.

I do believe that few Airbus A380 will fly into KDEN and some other relatively small areas. I also doubt that the A380 will not be as successful as the 747 because it is just too big, and there are few flights that need so many passengers. BTW, Boeinglover is right, I am completely biased in Boeing's favor and deserve the title of Boeinglover more than he does. However, this is a skilift site, so I stuck with something like that.

I would love to see the A380 fly to Denver but the one things that I'm hoping to see is the unique aspects that come with the extra space on-board. I hope that on thinner or longer routes that they will incorporate better passenger services and more areas to strech out. Especially since the A380 is suposed to have a lower seat mile cost than the 747 I hope airlines will use the planes to offer better comfort for their passengers instead of using it to make more money off making them giant cattle cars like most modern airliners.

Well, DIA is attemting not to have to build a new terminal and simply redo a couple of gates. It would save big $$$. No U.S. airports have gotten contracts for the A380 with the exception of San Fransisco with a Fed-Ex deal. Atlanta is in a huge hurry to get ready for this beast as UPS' main hub is Atlanta and they just ordered 50 A380s. Atlanta wasn't going to prepare for the A380 until UPS ordered their planes. At least 30 of the 50 states will be ready for the A380 and at least 70 countrieswill be ready by the year 2012.

First off UPS only ordered 10 A380's according to UPS and Airbus.

Also the 7E7 only has 10 orders from Europe as opposed to 84 from Asia. Airbus has had some recent success in the Middle East although there are rumours floating around that an upcoming order from Qatar for the 7E7 may number 50 or more as well with a romoured order from Emirites (sp) and Eithad that could add up for another 50 more.

Really, I guess they are just doing that for business. They could make the shorter one the -800 and move the shortest to -700

Err, Sorry about the msleading info about UPS. They apparently, in the preliminary stages of ordering, put 50 but later changed their mind.

BTW I find it interesting that Boeing says it holds commitments for 250 plus 787's but has only made public 186 makes you wonder about those 64 others doesn't it?

Interesting. My guess would that they would be options but you said that the orders were firm.

They say they are withholding them for the customers but what airline doensn't want it known that they ordered aircraft?

Maybe those others are for finance companies that will lease out the planes.

That's probably the most likely, ILFC (International Lease Finance Corporation) was rumored to be after some. Or it could be some airline with a lot of A300/A310s or A340-300s, i.e. Lufthansa in Germany

I doubt lufthansa would order some, as they are an airbus company.

Are there a lot of airplanes that are leased? I guess I never really thought airlines would lease planes just because of all the investors they have.

I know some train companies like Union Pacific lease trains if they are busy.

Yes, planes are leased, most typically through ILFC.
