I've heard a few different rumors about new detachables at Mt. Snow in Vermont.

One of them is that two fixed grip lifts, Summit Local and Sunbrook, will be upgraded to detachables.

The other one is that the Grand Summit Express is going to be upgraded to a six-passenger detachable.

Anyone know if either of these are true?

Yeah, they're potentially replacing them both for 2011-2012 pending approval and financing. Here's an article form the local newspaper this week.

Deerfield Valley News

The had announced this stuff about a month ao or so, but I guess the newspaper help out for Memorial Day weekend when more people would be around. There was an excavator working just above the base of the Summit Triple today, not sure it was at all related. Maybe some early prep work.

Test holes for the cut, looking for ledge.

So Summit Local will be replaced with a six-pack, and Sunbrook with a high speed quad.

I know bidding hasn't begun yet, but I'm going to guess that LP will get this one. I'm pretty sure all of the detachables at Mt Snow are made by Poma (one of them was retrofitted by Poma).

Also, in the past 10 years, I'm pretty sure that every single detachable installed in Vermont (with the exception of 3 from G - CTEC) came from LP.

Great news! The USFS has approved the replacement of lift #17 with a six-pack, the replacement of lift #19 with a high-speed quad and the widening of Long John trail.

This is not to say these projects are ready to go – we still need Act 250 and/or Town of Dover permits for them. But it’s a good start! Thank you to those of you that walked, mapped and/or otherwise provided info for the applications.
