After spending 15 million on a tram my guess is resorts try to keep them in service as long as possible.

Yes obviously. Squaw spent like 18 on the funitel, not the tram. The tram was built in 68, and has lasted very well. It probably still have 25 or so good years. Most resorts like to get the most out of their money.
