Realigning the Town lift is a good idea...It ends in the middle of a run, instead at the top of the mountain. Now what would really make it cool would be lattice towers modeled after the ones from the mining tram

So the new high speed quad would start on the other side of the Town bridge, where the old midstation was, and the Cabriolet would go from the current Town lift plaza to the bottom of the new HSQ?

floridaskier,

Yes, the Cabriolet goes from the current Town Lift Plaza to the current mid station. Then the HSQ picks up and goes to just below the top of the Payday lift. This is a good arrangement, since the last 1000 feet of skiing is around houses and over the bridge. The best, most continuous skiing would be from 3/4 of the way up Payday run (after the flat starting part), down to the Town Lift mid station. Here is more detail on the Funicular:

No. The city will not allow destruction of historic houses, and takes a very liberal view at 'historic'. All the new development is up the hill from current houses and goes into open/forrest land, privately owned by the Sweeney's.

Do people live in those houses, or are they just there for the historic part? Because one of them has a hot tub on the deck right next to the lift, and I don't know if anybody would want a hot tub exposed like that ;)

I think that they can be rented, because i have a friend that has stayed in a house about two in from that one during the Nastar Nationals... which is kind of a joke by the way

What is a joke? The house or NASTAR?

The Nastar Nationals...is that like the championship of those little ski race courses at a bunch of resorts?

Here is more info on the second new lift at Deer Valley. Called the Judge Lift, it will double up the capacity of the Viking lift (that short lift that takes you back out from Red Cloud/Qunicy). It will be a FGQ and has a length of about 700 feet. Park City Planning Commission approved the conditional use permit tonight, so its a go for this summer.

I actually have some construction pictures of this lift. However, to install this lift, DV had to move Quincy's bottom terminal like 100 feet forward or more.

Are you sure you are refering to the Judge lift? My understanding (I have not been up to Silver Lake since late May) is that they have not yet started. In fact, they just got the conditional use permit last week, which means that they should not have started until this week. I can't say for sure though, since I have not been up to the construction site recently. BTW the First Time lift at PCMR now has the lower terminal completly disassembled and the top terminal is starting to come down too.

Yea, DV has started. I was there last week and there has been a lot of work. Red Cloud lift has also been raised a foot higher. Powdr, if you drive up to the Silver Lake area, you can see there has been a lot of work done and not just in the past week, more like two months or so. DV is on private land and I guess it figured it would get approved anyway.

SkiBachelor,

I stand corrected. I guess the use permit is for the construction of the new lift, and maybe not for existing lifts. They probably are allowed to rearrange existing lift configs, since that does not impact wetlands, virgin forests, etc, which even though it is on private land, must still be reveiwed prior to disturbing lands.

I'll be there for a few days in about 3 weeks. PArents have a business meeting in Phoenix and we're going with them and we're driving up after. Maybe I'll bring a disposable camera and get it on a CD
