Spunky, get a shot of the entire resort during the "offseason" so the chairs can be undergoing maintence. I should build a new model soon.

I have a working tram that goes over our front walkway. The top station is located inside our house with the drive inside the house. The line runs out and the bottom station is duct taped to a tree. I made it with K'Nex. Pics will follow.

This is a model of one of the chairlifts used at ski resorts to carry skiers up the slope. It has been one of my ambitions to build such a model for many years, as each time we visited the ski area I carefully studied how they work. The most difficult part was to be able to make a device to attach the chairs to the main wire which would be able to ride over, under and around pulleys at both ends and along the way. A long bolt and a twisted piece of copper wire made about the best job of it. The model featured eight cars (only this many so we could fit it in the car for transporting to the exhibition), two mid-way supporting towers and cotton wool was used to represent snow on the slope.

Has anyone got any good photos of their model cable car? i am trying to build a working detachable model out of lego technic or something, with proper accelerator rails just like the real thing, i have succssfully built a fixed grip but i havent a clue how to scale down a detachable grip, any ideas anyone? or has anyone done it already, if you have any information or photos post on here or at chrisnwales@hotmail.com
Thanks :)

I tryed a detachable double by having knots in the string/cable and have a intersecting string so when the chair gets near the bullwhell it is picked up by the non moving string and when the chair is ready for re-connect with the fact cable, it waits to pick up a another knot in your cable. I will draw some pictures if you didn't understand that.

I built a Yan type detachable grip, I say it is a Yan grip not because it looks like one but because it drops from the cable frequently. :---:

Yeah you would have to be a bit on the crazy if you planned on riding a lift with this grip. I use small wheels that run along the cable to keep the chair on the cable but it hits the bottom tower frequently. I test it on the same line as my tram and that is pretty steep, just like at Whistler.
