I was home yesterday and caught the National Geographic 1 hour special on the construction of the new tram. It was well done and had a cast of the industry's colorful carracters I hope you all get to see it. About time they put something together on our industry that did not include schoolies! It is suppose to be replayed again this week on the Nat Geo Channel. Check it out the cast is great!

Welcome to the forum!
I was able to catch it last night and thought it was a great video. I actually enjoyed it more than the documentary that was put together for the Peak 2 Peak gondola at Whistler/Blackcomb. The film did leave out some additional information why the tram was removed. It mentioned that the track cables were wore out and needed to be replaced, but also the tower foundations were starting to deteriorate and needed to be rebuilt.
P.S. Three of the people you saw in the documentary are active members on this forum.

Did a bit of searching.
Looks like the next episode is Thursday Jan 14th at 4 ET.
Going to try to tape it. Can't find it on the Nat. Geo. website. Not sure if it just isn't updated or if there is some sort of software problem. It seems to find it, but displays nothing.

Saw this when it came out. Count the number of times they show the broken track rope cable scenario. The crane opertator is borderline cowboy methinks, but this is Wyoming after all.

Someone spent an awful lot of time on the computer making up scenarios, didn't they? I also like how (as in other media reports on the ski industry) the writer made things more dramatic than they are. He made it sound like the 5x safety factor on the rope is unique to the tram, when it's an industry standard. All that aside, what a project! Makes the last lift I helped build look like Legos in the playroom. Strong work Chuck and crew.
