Hi all. My fiancee and I took a little trip west to Glenwood Springs, about two hours from us. The destination is Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. It is a neat little tourist place. The original idea was for people to explore the caves, which are still toured. They have an alpine coaster, a 4D movie theater, laser tag, gift shop, restaurant, etc. Of course, MY main interest was the pulse gondola.

Not sure of the specs, but here is what I know.

Installed in 2002/3 by Poma
Currently set up in a 4x3x4 configuration using CWA cabins

Here is a link to my photo album:

And for your enjoyment, the rest of the trip, including the caves and the alpine coaster!

Very cool pictures, and for the details here is a link to the detailed page on that pulse gondola.

Detail Page for Gondola

Hope you guys had a great time at the caverns. I'd like to get there someday, about the only sort of thing I've been in like those are the lava tubes in Craters of the Moon National Park in Idaho.

I hate to sound like a noob but what is the point of a Pulse Gondola? - what is the point of the spacing? This has been bothering me for a while now...

A Pulse lift achieves the short ride time of a detachable but at a much lower cost since mechanically it is a fixed grip lift. The downside is it has a lower capacity. Carriers are spaced out in groups because the pulse lift must slow each time a carrier goes around a bullwheel. If the carriers were evenly spaced, it would have to slow constantly.
