POWDR CORP TO BUY COPPER
SAM Magazine--November 17, 2009--Intrawest and Powdr Corp today announced they have entered into a definitive purchase agreement to sell Intrawest's interests in Copper Mountain to Powdr Corp. The transaction is anticipated to close in December 2009 and the agreement is subject to regulatory approvals including the issuance of a U.S. Forest Service special-use permit to Powdr Corp.
This winter season it is business as usual at Copper Mountain. Once the transaction is finalized Intrawest and Powdr Corp have committed to work together to ensure that all of the multi-mountain season pass products, vacation reservations and joint marketing initiatives will be honored for the 2009-2010 winter season. This includes the Rocky Mountain Super Pass suite of products that provide skiers and riders with access to Copper Mountain, Steamboat Resort and Winter Park Resort.

I doubt this will be the last sell-off for Intrawest.
Also, does anyone have any thoughts on how this will impact pass prices in Colorado? With the Rocky Mountain Pass gone, will the Colorado Pass go up?

Don't know. I imagine that next season the SuperPass will become Steamboat and WP, rather than us and WP with Steamboat as a bonus. This will be interesting. Anyone who has worked or currently works for Powdr please PM me as I'd like some info about my probable new bosses.

They may maintain some type of joint relationship with Winter Park/ Steamboat for discount pass/ package purposes to stay competitive with Colorado pass, similar to Dundee Realty (A-Basin) and Vail Resorts (BC, Keystone, Breck, & Vail). If not, I will likely purchase a Colorado pass next year for the first time in 10 years, I wouldn't be surprised if others did the same. That would hurt all three areas (Copper, WP & Steamboat). Things could change a lot for next season and it will take a lot of consideration/ negotiation. It will be interesting to see what they come up with, by the end of 09-10 season, we should have a pretty good idea.
