I just saw Warren Miller's Dynasty last night, I thought it was one the better ones since Warren left. One segment bothered me enough to where I'm going to write to Warren Miller & CO; 2 different skiers hit a kicker and "ground" on the haul rope, they only slid for about 5-10 feet but this just seems so very very wrong to me, now other park rats are going to emulate this trick.
Will this, could this damage a haul rope? How tough are they?

Haul ropes are very tough, however any type of abrasion is not good for the rope. Perhaps they were jibbing on a lift that no longer runs or one that is getting a haul rope replacement in the near future.

Possibly, but it sure looked like an average (med-western?) every day use fgd chair.

Haul rope steel is very tough I highly doubt a ski would damage it at all. They are designed to withstand this kind of abuse...
