While working on the new Skilifts.org website, I noticed something rather odd about the Wildcat lift at Snowbasin. Can you spot the dilema I'm having with it?

Or does it have something to do with the fact that the maintenance carrier is on the line (I think, hard to tell from the angle.) Besides for that there's not much I can tell that would be 'wrong' but then again I probably am looking far too hard at it... lol

The bottom looks like a drive terminal but it is not?

No, it's probably not serious enough for you guys to pick up on it. As we probably all know the lift was modified by Doppelmayr. The top terminal received a Doppelmayr lift shack, while the bottom has a Yan one. However, Snowbasin doesn't have any Yan and never did so why the Yan lift shack? I know it's a sister resort to Sun Valley, but there were never any Yans at Sun Valley that were removed when this lift was modified, so that's why I think this is really strange.

I believe that the people of Snowbasin had a nice idea: put Doppelmayr UNI-M terminals over the terminals of the fixed grip lifts, so that they are disguised as high speed quads.
And before it was removed, Little Cat was actually featured in Rescue 911 episode 203, "Dangling Skier," where a little girl was dangling from the lift for several minutes (but not in an embarrasing way like the January incident on the Skyline Express).

The new skins went on Wildcat, Littlecat, (old double now replaced with a HSQ) and Middlebowl back in 98 when the other new lifts were added at Snowbasin. I believe the lift shacks were replaced back in 98 as well.
Also, the old Littlecat was converted to Hydraulic tensioning in 98.
Take a look at the lift shacks for Littlecat & Middlebowl as well. The only 2 lifts that were not modified in anyway and are still more or less stock are the 2 Stadeli lifts along with the Stadeli barn style terminals, Becker & Porky.

Just as a FYI, I got the impression from a few of the lift folks at Snowbasin that Wildcat's days are numbered. No info yet on if she'll be replaced. As it stands right now, she is only used on heavy traffic days but is still in good condition and runs well.

The Yan shacks are from a Yan lift that was never installed. I think that the top shack of MBIII is also a Yan, same kind of sliding door. And the old Little Cat had a Yan shack at the top too, but that makes 3 Yan shacks, so now I'm confused. Maybe they cut they drive station shack in halve and made two out of it, I don't know.

To the best of my knowledge there were never any plans for a YAN at Snowbasin. Chances are they came from Sun Valley or were a deal worked out with YAN/Doppie, or Doppie had them on hand and put them in during the 98 season when the Gondi's & HSQ were added, along with the terminal re-fits to Littlecat, Wildcat, and Middlebowl.
