Started buildin' a long-planned solar-thermal collector for my house today. It's based on storing solar energy in thermal mass, 1000kG of black limestone, piled inside an insulated box, with a window set facing south. Transfers heat to the house basement via a set of very short air-ducts using a 12V automotive heater fan. Hope to lop a few hundred bucks off of the winter heating bill. We live in a cold climate, although it is sunny & bright 80% of the days.
Curious to hear if there are any other solar creations out there.
