Quick question to everyone to kill the summer blues:

Whats the highest lift you've been on in your winter sports life (not vertical or elevation, but above the ground)

For me, it was Snowbird tram, had to be a good 250 ft above the ground at some points

P2P at Whistler Blackcomb 436 metres above Fitzsimmons creek, you're up there.

Flight of the Canyons gondola, I don't know how far down it is but it's a long way. For an open chairlift, it would be the old Ruby fixed quad at Deer Valley, right at Tower 4, which is the tallest tower I've ever seen. They cut it in half and made it a depression tower on the new high speed quad there.

For me it would probably be Aspen's gondola, which is around 250 feet at it's highest I'd say. (Don't know the exact numbers, but your shadows are just little dots.) As for a chairlift, the Riva Bahn at Vail has the one quick section where it's 60 feet or so over Hairbag Alley. There are also a few places on the Peak 8 SuperConnect where it's really high off the ground.

The Yan FGD version of the Millicent lift at Brighton, UT between towers 12 & 13 was the highest I have ever seen a chairlift off the ground. I have not yet ridden the new HSQ version, maybe next winter.

There's a point on Storm Peak Express at Steamboat that seemed pretty high to me. I'm not sure what towers they are though.

Highest enclosed lift that I have ever ridden would probably be the Aspen Gondola. As Skierdude said, it's up there a ways. As for chairlifts, I would have to agree with Skierdude again. Riva Bahn has that one every tall section just before (or after) the top terminal.

On the Peak 8 SuperConnect, I think you're talking about that span from tower 23 to 24.

Do you mean the part where the lift goes into that small canyon where there is the tower with all compression sheaves? Yeah, that is pretty high.
