The newer ones are better, they don't seem like they're going to tip you right off the chair like the older ones

Maybe I'm biased because I'm a Poma mechanic, but I don't understand the feeling that one is about to fall off the Falcon- or Competition-style carriers. I've ridden on them for years, and I find them quite comfortable and secure.

I think the difference comes in the way the Back rest is angled/designed. The flat poma design makes sitting comfortably a harder task. for taller people a more forward position is requiered to acheive this angle. Also the Mounting of poma footrests seems to lead to a more forward chair position.

That could be. I don't use the footrests unless I'm riding with people who want them down, so I haven't noticed that aspect. I do like the one Doppelmayr we've got; it's the only one I've ever ridden on a regular basis but it seems plenty comfortable.

I dont like the hard backs. I like the chairs with the soft cushion. I could not live without the footrests on some of the chairs at mammoth though!

The saftey bars on the 80's poma's at Squaw always make me laugh. It bounces up and down, and rests just above your knees. Talk about a false sense of security.

I hate the ones where you pull it up and it slams the back of the chair and the chair rocks like 5 feet. That's safe!
