Well I got one more day in today, although it was a bit sketchy at the bottom! Sugarloaf certainly is willing to push the envelope to stay open as long as possible.

Don't know the exact day count, but it was for sure less than 30. I'm guessing around 25. But it doesn't matter the quantity. Only the quality. And of the days I skied, I don't think there was a single bad day. I'll still get a couple more at the Basin, though.

Well, my season was fun. It was my first year working at a ski area, which I must say was a very interesting and fun experience all around. I skied somewhere around 6 or 7 days in Colorado for fun and countless at Hyland for work. All in all, our last day of the season was really fun here! It was 45 degrees (hot for me!) and sunny. After the morning shift was over, me and some co-workers headed over to water ski and puddles forming on the south side of the hill.

I only put in two days this year, both at Mammoth Mt. We (Horizon) started daily service out of LA this year, so I was up there for business both times, but was able to take a day each trip for some fun. Nice Mountain!

I didn't count this year. I had a pretty decent concussive head injury in December which sidelined me for a week and a half but other than that I skied as much as last season. I did start earlier with a hike-to session at Mount Snow on Oct. 24th but after that the skiing didn't really start till the friday before thanksgiving at Okemo. My December was shortened but I went more times this spring which the spring pass to Sugarbush and pounded my knees into oblivion on Ripcord and Steins... mostly Ripcord. I am sure I got in over 80 days. I skied Stowe and Smuggs for the first time and logged 7 days at Magic Mtn. My pass again was Okemo/ Stratton midweek. I also got a day in over X-mas over at Middlebury College Snowbowl.

Best day of the year: Early January at Magic mountain. 12 people at the most. A foot of fresh in the trees. Plenty of beautiful packed powder on the runs. Skied with a telimarking friend who was willing to go anywhere. Epic. Anyone in the east who hasn't been there go if there is plenty of snow... you won't be disappointed.

Today was the last day at Alpental. Mid mountain, it was snowing hard, and at the top it got about 3 inches of new snow. This is May right?

We were pretty dry for LAte Jan Most of Feb and most of March. WE had a strong Dec with snowfall. I think from Dec 1st til christmas day We saw maybe 5 sunny days during that time. The rest was snowy. And then at the end we got hammered. From the last week in march until the last day. The employee party was sunshine blue sky. Perfect day to be running Coney Glade....

My season isn't quite over! Drove to mammoth lakes from the bay area today (over tioga pass, which opened two days ago!), for some memorial day skiing! Still a good 5-6 feet of snow on the ground up on the mountain, so it should be awesome.

Here's my season:

Attached File  0809SkiSeason.xls (55.5K)
Number of downloads: 13

36 days total and almost 470,000 vertical feet despite going to school Monday -Thursday and working Friday - Sunday. Kind of geeky of me, but I like it.

08/09 was a very adventurous season for me. I have finished my lift-served season for the year, might hike St Mary's glacier a couple times this summer for some snowboarding but its hard to say, I have a marathon I am training for in Estes Park on 6/14 and plan on running Boulder marathon in September and possibly Mt Rushmore marathon in early October, then, hopefully the snow will be flying again.
Last season, I was able to ski & ride (I normally do both the same day, at different times, of course) approx 35 days, my daughter, now 8, accompanied me for many of those days and made many strides with her skiing. By March she was able to ski the runs in the Resolution area at Copper. The two best trips were an early season trip to Snowmass just before Christmas (we enjoyed meeting Kicking Horse) when we were treated to 20+" of snow in 24 hours and our trip to Bozeman, Montana to ski at Big Sky/ Moonlight/ Bridger. Despite the travel difficulties on the return trip (3 days to drive from MT to CO due to road closures, weather, etc), the trip was unforgetable and I am definately ready to return. The end of the season was also nice as I was able to ride at my home away from home, Mary Jane, when I was once again treated to 20+" of snow in less than 24 hours and still dumping. The only mistake I made was trying to drive home only to get stopped on I-70 just after Idaho Springs when they closed the road. I finally made it home at 12:45a.m. (I am usually home about 6 p.m.).
Hoping for another good year next season of good, clean fun!
I hope everyone has a fun and safe off-season.

Its a few weeks old by now, but I traded in high speed quads for my low speed quads and took my last turns on tuckerman ravine a few weeks ago. Very cool place, lots of people with a good vibe.

Cool pics. I went in January and had a great time there.

-Begin Rant-
I have to say that the image I had of the place and the "good vibe" was changed after watching a Youtube video from this spring. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=RW_ekQSiPTA People there seemed to think that a good sized avalanche coming down the ravine carrying someone was something to cheer about. Going to school nearby this year made me realize how oblivious many people are to the dangers of avalanche terrain. Not one person who asked me to go with them this spring had any avalanche gear or training. Many did not even know that Mt. Washington was avalanche terrain given that most areas in the East are not. So just a reminder to anyone who plans to go to Tuckerman's in the future - please realize that it is dangerous terrain that demands your respect.

Arapahoe Basin just closed for the season on Sunday. Not bad! From October until June. In 3 months, snowmaking begins at A-Basin & Loveland! (Weather permitting) I feel bad for the lifties who work there, short vacations, lots of maintenance they have to cram in in 3 months before it all starts over again. On my drive over to Utah last week, the Mechs were already hard at work on Summer Maintenance at Loveland. Wonder if this year we will see Lift-5 return to service.

Forgot to add: Snow may be possible for some locations above 9000 ft in Colorado this week.

Up until the past few seasons, A-Basin stayed open until all of the skiable snow was gone. I think it was 1996 when they stayed open until August. I was amazed at how much snow was left on the upper mountain looking at the mountain cam yesterday! If they still did not set a closing date like the old days, this might be one of those seasons when people could ski in July!
As for lift #5 at Loveland, I also would like to see them use it again and indicated this on their comment card as the shuttles are a hassle, however, recent word has it that the lift is up for sale. Oddly enough the chairs were painted silver last summer to match the other lifts. For the advanced skier, Loveland Valley is really not worth the trouble but it has some nice runs for beginners and intermediate skiers. It would be nice if there were a few more runs over there. We'll have to see what the future holds.

Rode about 30 days at Cascade in WI. Got good snow at Breck and Keystone, then good spring condition at K-Wood and Heavenly. The hill made the most money they ever did so for my first season back in the midwest the attitude was good, morale is everything in long hours and low pay Believe it!

The department of transportation just got Chinook Pass opened up a couple weeks ago and is a great place for summer riding (no lifts), and only 45 min from my house! Chinook received more then 5' of snow in May alone and last weekend when I came across still had around 10-12' at the road level.

I was up at paradise (WA) and they still have lots of snow. I also saw lots of skiers and riders hiking up.
