That... movie... was... TERRIBLE!

Razor sharp haul ropes eh? Must be hard on the sheave liners! Glad our Thiokol didn't come with that option.

yeah, they are so sharp they'll cut thru chains if you drag them down the cable. And it slipped my attention, but the chair just falls off?? Man those 1970's lifts are sketchy....Ha ahahaha
loved the crazy
reasoning behind the movie in the extras

When that chair fell it had some sort of safety cable on it. Are those on all lifts or was that just for the movie?

That was the idiotic directors choice to put that in or she would have fallen to her death. I wish the car driving down the road would have run over her head, now that's an ending!

Also the sharp haul ropes were another idiotic necessity or they would have just made it to a tower in the first 1/2 hour of being stuck and movie over! OR, when the mystery safety rope breaks and the chair falls it could have landed on her head...more wolf food, lol.

The last half of the movie didn't suck as bad as the first half. My favorite part was the thread-all with a non-nylock nut and big flat washer that just appears as the chair mysteriously falls off the clip when the chair wiggles slightly.

Yeah I can agree with that.

Are the haul ropes really that sharp? To me they don't look it at all but I have never touched one either.

Haul ropes are not sharp...It is simply a braided cable.

I would like to know who was listed in the credits as the " Technical Advisor"
"Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish—a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow—to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested . . . Res ipsa loquitur (it speaks for it self). Let the good times roll." HT

I looked at the credits and didn't see "Technical Advisor" but I did come across Technocrane Operators. They were Bryan Fletchall and Jason Kay. I don't know if that is the same position or not.

Is the "Technical Advisor" ever listed in credits?

Technical Advisors are usually listed in the credits. Except in this case they probably didn't have one, or their advice wasn't taken, based on the above discussion. (I have not seen the movie).

Glad I streamed it online, wouldn't want to pay for such a dumb movie

so the girl gives the lifty $100, then they eat in the base lodge, so they could afford say $130-$140 but not lift tickets for night skiing.

How about when the moron finally gets down the tower and hops on a snowboard to slide down, um, his skis were right there

How often do you see snowcats backing all the way down a trail

When I watched it there were so many things that we would normally do definitely because it is just common sense. Like take your phone with you, or the lift operator not to leave his position, or don't jump from the chair, or also wait for the wolves to to move on somewhere else.
It is just a movie for entertainment anyways. At least this isn't a true story. :)

This is why it made a bleak debut at like 6 cities, then went straight to DVD...I think it lasted for 2 or 3 weeks in the theaters.

I watched it. I didn't want to at first but got it free from the library. Pretty lame! I wish they made more ski movies. I, for one, liked Aspen Extreme, and my wife loves Out Cold, haha. Of course, those aren't thrillers. But they would be if they had razor cables and wolves!

I believe at Steamboat I've seen them do the flipping up seats method on the Storm Peak Express. I've also seen that happen on the Avanti Express at Vail. Bear in mind, those are mid-mountain lifts.

I was skiing opening day at Snowbasin when the Middle Bowl triple chair broke down, a similar chair to the Wildcat chair (an old Thiokol triple) this movie was filmed on. Was about a 20 minute wait while the chair was stopped. I thought it was kind of funny that this movie came to mind while waiting for the chair to start back up.

All the chairlift illogicies are almost as bad as that cable car in Hoodwinked. I made a thread for that movie's cable car, but I've yet to hear a reply for it.
