There is a photo on the right saying
IN THEATRES 2010
I always love these kind of thrillers, no matter how corney they seem. I look forward to seeing this one.

Could be wrong though...
At any rate looks, well like most of those kinds of movies, don't know if it'll be good or bad, but certainly not my style. My style would be more those three people are stranded for a night and have a ravaging philosophical discussion about the meaning of life or what not.
But I doubt it'd do very well at the box office...

"Downhill Racer", probably the last watchable ski movie made
Don't lament. Hollywood climbing films are typically just as bad if not worse... with notable exceptions "Touching the Void" & "Eiger Sanction"

Also, Ski Patrol, while not overly realistic at a lot of points, was always worth the watch. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100631/

With the resort closed until the following weekend and frostbite and hypothermia already setting in, the trio is forced to take desperate measures to escape off the mountain before they freeze to death. Once they make their move, they discover with horror that they have much more to fear than just the frigid cold. As they combat unexpected obstacles, they start to question if their will to survive is strong enough to overcome the worst ways to die.

I won't say that I'm afraid of heights, but I definitely am not a fan of being up high. For a while I had an irrational fear of riding chairlifts, but I've gotten over it and now don't mind riding a HSQ. Old fixed grip doubles in the "non-basket" style (like the chairs at Mt Hood Skibowl) still make me feel a little queasy.
My question: How do resorts present the scenario in the movie from happening? E.g. does an employee ride up the lift after it's closed to the public? Has anyone ever heard of someone being stranded on a lift overnight?
I was just wondering what standard operating procedure is for shutting down the lift at the end of the day.
Thanks!

I skied at Powder Mountain and they up load the operator (top station is at lodge level), he puts a closed sign in front of the lift (and hopes no one gets on), it would be their own fault if they did, but it does give the opportunity for a stranded guest.

Upon starting up the Solar-Coaster chairlift one summer morning (summer operation), discovered a ladder made of tied clothing reaching from a downhill chair, reaching almost to the ground. (no bras or panties included).
Restaurant staff apparently downloaded the closed chair without the top operator noticing (must have been getting ready to go home). Closing time was 9:00 PM or something like that.
Sure hope they remembered their car-keys. No one ever came forward to reclaim their clothing.

Yikes! I'm glad that I always cut out at least 15 minutes before the lifts close.
Well, if it's 2 skiers 11 years ago, I have to figure that there's probably been 1 billion+ lift rides in the US since then with no other reported overnight stays. So my odds of winning Powerball are higher than getting stuck overnight on a lift.
Thanks for the article find!

Thanks for the info. I always wondered how they avoided that problem.

Liked Downhill racer, also liked Hot Dog. Some good shots at Squaw Valley.
