As most of you don't live in central New York let me say that Greek Peak is one of the larger ski resorts in the area and has been working on expanding and upgrading for sometime. New trails have been cut for years with plans on upgrading but I have never seemed to be able to find any information on the expansion. well until now

In the next 2 to 3 years, Greek Peak plans on investing $17 Million to expand and upgrade the Ski Resort Operation. Development will consist of but not be limited to:

* New and Upgraded Chair Lifts
* Expanded Snowmaking Capacity
* Expanded Base and Lodge Facilities
* Expanded Skier Services
* Additional Learn to Ski/Ride Facility
* Relocated Tubing Facility
* Potential Wind Turbine

As these plans will change over the next several seasons, we are asking our guest to help us refine our vision. We have created a survey that should assist us in attaing our goal.

I am really interested in the lift improvements as most of the lifts are Hall's from the 60's. In the survey they talk of replacing both lifts 1A and 3 with quads and lift 4 with a detachable quad(which surprised me as the lift 1/1A area sees about twice the traffic that the lift 4 area does though they want to build a lodge and tubing center at the top of it) that would possibly extend down to the base, not of the valley it currently begins in. This mountain also does a lot of work with area schools so new lifts would probably make it easier and safer for the young school kids that ski here. Especially lift 3 upgrades as it is a very old one speed Hall on the learning slope.

The thing i wondering would the lifts likely be new or used (the fixed grips probably used the detach likely new) and if new what company does more service in the central NY area?

Mad River Lifts does a lot of the used lifts in a large part of the country, and as for new, Leitner-Poma and Doppelmayr-CTEC both have their share of lifts in New York, with a slight bias towards D-CTEC.
