Ever since Doppelmayr CTEC bought Partek in 2005, 1 lift that looks like a brand new Partek has been built each summer.

In 2005, it was a double at Willard Mountain, NY

In 2006, a double went in at Mount Peter, NY

In 2007, it was a triple at Gore Mountain, NY

In 2008, it was a double at The Hideout, PA

All of these lifts look like they have brand new Partek towers and terminals, not refurbished Borvig ones.

So is Doppelmayr CTEC selling new Partek lifts to small East Coast resorts or is Hagen Shultz selling these lifts through Ski Lift Parts Inc.?

It could be that Partek had extra inventory left over after it was purchased and Doppelmayr CTEC has slowly been selling it.

The first picture skier posted was the last new Partek lift built. Since the Doppelmayr buyout, Partek has become a parts business for Borvig and Partek lifts. But the also have joined the refurbished lift market. They buy back old Borvig lifts and upgrade them and then re sell. Similar to what Superior Tramway does to Riblet lifts.

The lift at mt peter has the old Borvig chairs, towers, and assemblies. The drive terminal is new. The maintenance platforms and gantries are also new.
The triple at gore is very similar. It has the original carriers but with upgraded plastic seats and backrests. The towers are original but upgraded to modern standards. Not sure about drive but it is likely to be new as well.
Not sure about the lift at hideout. That picture is too small to see but it does look like the towers are Borvigs.
The turbulence lift at Pats Peak is also a refurbished Borvig. Basically the same as the others but it has an older style of Borvig carriers. Also notice the sheave assemblies the hang below the cross arm. Partek never manufactured those.

Speaking about that Hideout double, it makes me wonder because you said that Partek was doing Borvig upgrades. There was installed at Hideout many years ago an SLI, so does anyone know whether the SLI was torn out and then the Borvig thrown in and then updated? (and if so what happened to the SLI) or was this actually an upgrade to an SLI?

Thanks for the help!

The SLI double was replaced by the Partek double.

Skier do you also know what happened to the old SLI then? I called Hideout but their phones must be done cause it wasn't connecting. Or maybe the number on their site is old. I'll give them another call tomorrow to see if it works.

I don't know but I would bet it was scrapped. SLI's aren't relocated much these days.

I was browsing mohawk mountain's website to see pics of the poma triple they installed used this past summer. One thing I found interesting is that they now have {what looks to be} a partek triple in the beginner area. Last I knew of this lift was a savio double with partek chairs. anyone know about this lift? Maybe I am deceived but it seems that might actually be a new lift installed after the company went out of business.

I might be wrong, but it looks like those are D-CTEC tower heads.

The shape of them doesn't look quite right, IMO.

I think I might have been thrown off by the color scheme.

It looks like Partek is officially back in business and building new lifts. http://www.partekskilifts.com/

Below is an article from 2005 when Doppelmayr bought the rights to Partek lifts. Did Hagen buy back the rights or what?

I think that the lift at Mount Peter came from Split Rock, a lost ski area in PA. It closed in 2005 and its lift which was a Borvig double-double with only the left side installed was put up for sale. I have seen pictures of the lift at Split Rock, the towers and sheave trains look the same as the Mount Peter lift. The color of the old lift was blue. It is painted green now at Mount Peter, but in areas where there is chipped paint the blue shows. There is also an extra depression tower in line which is a standard tower. They use the old chair frames and new plastic seats.

This is the lift at Split Rock

Posted Image

Also the trend continued because in 2010 another triple was installed at Gore Mountain

Posted Image

And in 2012 a double was installed at Mountain Creek

Posted Image

This lift has the new chair frames and the solid sheaves which means that it is a new install and not a relocation.

Because it's newer? with warranty? or somesuch?

(at least it's not a LE/Yan ... we'd KNOW why they replaced a double with a double in that case)

re: Partek, the website seems to mostly be parts and re-manufactured used lifts ... and swings. Yep, they're selling brand new chairs configured as backyard swings and benches. Has to be a nice little niche business ...

I love the old Borvig wooden drive terminals and the bullwheels are the most beautiful of every lift (in my opinion) and I think Dopplemayer should sell Partek lifts as a cheaper alternative to their other ones
