Does anyone know the history behind the Sunnyside lift at Mad River Glen? The first one was put in in 1961 but the new version is a CTEC/Doppelmayr hybrid. The bottom terminal looks to be an older Doppelmayr counterweight tension/drive terminal but the rest looks like newer mid-90's CTEC. Was this relocated from somewhere else? It's not in the surveys at all.

MRG, ski it if you can! I believe the lift used to be a Borvig and the drive remained. CTEC did do an upgrade a few years back.

Great ski area though, haven't been there in 12-14 years. yikes, time flies.

I believe that it was originally a Mueller. Doppelmayr installed a new drive terminal in the mid 80's. I was part of the Garaventa CTEC crew that installed new towers, return terminal and chairs in the summer of 1998. The drive terminal and counter weight were reused. We sure had a lot fun staying in the Mad River valley. Jamie Wimble was an excellent host.

One problem with the SAM surveys is that they do not include a large part of the work that goes on with lifts every year. If it's not a brand new lift, it doesn't count.

http://www.madriverg...com/ski_museum/ and http://www.chairlift.org/mr.html provided me with some history.

1960-61 the original Sunnyside Double is installed, a Mueller
1982-83 the drive terminal is replaced by Borvig
1998-99 the double is upgraded by CTEC with new chairs, towers and return terminal.

I beg to differ but that is a Doppelmayr drive terminal.

Counterweight appears to be Doppelmayr (the pulley wheels) and it looks like an 80's style Doppelmayr terminal to me.
