I hear wawa is good but can be crowded at times. Crotched is another good small ski area in reasonable driving distance from bean town.
Everything is just loop-de-loops and flibertyjibbit

Sunapee is still really good, but it was almost an hour and a half from Manchester, so you'd have to speed like hell's chasing you to make it there from Boston in 2 hours.

I went there once about 5 years ago on a Saturday. Between waiting for the shuttle from the parking lot, waiting in line to buy tickets, waiting at the bag check window and waiting in the lift line it was over 90 minutes between arriving at the hill and beginning to ski. We would have been better off continuing driving to a less crowded hill.

Terrain was decent, but it was crowded. I'd go back on a weekday, but weekends at Sunapee is a "never again" proposition.

The next day (Sunday) was Bretton Woods, which had no crowds at all.

This is just one data point. YMMV.

Ragged has some new people running the area and seems to be cleaning up their act.

Pats Peak in Henniker New Hampshire is truely a family ski area. This year they built play area in a snowbank with tunnels made of culvert. The kids love it.

Waterville Valley is also about 2 hours from Boston.

Basically there are lots of places to ski in this range, one just needs to do some research and find something they like.

p.s. only one 'N' in Sunapee.

Gunstock in NH is worth a look. Its near Laconia and I think you might be able to dive it in under 2 hrs.
