is pro sessel still trying to save that last vr 101 in switzerland?it is a shame that switzerland cant make a exception to there new ''' law'''.i hope to god someone tries to save this classic vr 101.

I heard that the law would allow to save the last VR101. But the oparating company wants to replace it... Pro Sesseli is still active. But I'm not really optimistic...

They surely could but they obviously donīt want to....
Switzerland is no member of the European Community so they donīt had to follow their regulations but it seems to be that they want to be "more popefully then the pope itselves"....

@seilbahnbilder.ch, think the EC - laws give no chance for the VR cause the regulations order that cableway clamps had to pass derailed sheave batteries without troubles too; the VR - clamp unfortunately couldnīt fit this point.

As I heard, the EU-law doesn't allow to rebuild used lifts but it is more "generous" to old lifts... The problem is that the oparating company want to replace it!

It is allowed and possible when the rebuilt lift corresponds to the actual safety regulations. In the last years the CCM company had rebuilt one Trojer and a few old Marchisio basket lifts in Italy; Graffer renovated the two Monte Baldo plants too.

The oldest high speeds for me would be the Colorado and Falcon SuperChairs in Breckenridge, plus the Dopplemayr high speed quads at Vail and Beaver Creek. Those 11 lifts are all more than 20 years old. Outside of Vail Resorts, the oldest lift would be Winter Park's Pioneer Express or Copper Mountain's American Flyer.

I have ridden on a 1948/1949 Von roll type 101 side chair in Ped pod Snezka in the Czech Republic. Very old lift, but super cool to sit sideways. The oldest "modern" detachable I rode is an 1986 Doppelmayr in Stowe, VT.

The "Blue Bullet 1" at Mt Buller in Victoria, Australia is supposed to be the oldest detachable quad chair in the world. It opened in June 1984 (June is winter in Australia) and remains a major access lift and one of the main beginner lifts on quite a large mountain.

The trouble is, they can't get spare parts, so they have replaced "Blue Bullet 2" with a 6-pack chair and are using the parts to keep BB1 operating.

List of all 56 ski lifts to have operated on Mt Buller.

Oldest detachable for me would be the San Diego Zoo Sky Ride while the oldest High Speed lift I think would be Eagle Express at Solitude Utah built by VonRoll CTEC in 1989.

I'll bite. I guess that the oldest detach I've ever ridden would be Summit Express at Mary Jane or the Vista Bahn at Vail. Don't know which one is truly older. Sorry, Bogong, Quicksilver at Breckenridge was built in 1981. I unfortunately never got to ride it before it was replaced.

Uh, maybe as the first high speed quad in the Southern Hemisphere when Quicksilver in Breckenridge claimed as the first detachable in the Northern Hemisphere.

There are a few detachable quads in Europe built in 1983 that are still in operation.
