My oldest gondola would be the old Von roll gondola at Gore. Oldest detachable chair would be the Von roll triple at Gore.
Everything is just loop-de-loops and flibertyjibbit

Wow!i never had a chance to ride on a vr 101 sidechair.how was the ride?any pictures?

I can't describe it. You must try it yourself
No, unfortunately I haven't any pics from the VR101 Niederhorn.

But here you find some pics from the VR101 Weissenstein.
These is the last existing VR101 in Switzerland. But they are planing for a new gondola. So these VR101 will belong soon to the past too

its hard to believe ,the country where the detachable was invented is outlawing its past pionering lifts.the vr 101.at least here in the usa we have 12 vr 101s.i feel bad that overseas cant ride on classic technology.vr 101 are and will allways be a one of a kind lift.

I've ridden the original Summit at Bachelor, an '83 Doppelmayr triple. I've ridden it since the retrofit to a quad, but it's just not the same....

I rode the 4 passenger Gondola at Ski Apache near Reidoso (sp?) N.M. It was in the mid-80's and at that time it seemed very old. Gravity feed with manual launch i.e cabin is launched by op pulling on a leaver to release the grip down a ramp. I don't remember who the manufacture was. and don't know if it still turns. Just remember that even before I was in the industry I thought what a labor intence operation. Two guys to catch the cabin as it came in the terminal, then push it around the contour to the load ops who stuffed butts and lanuch cabin. Don't know the year it was installed but it must have 60's or earlier. Anyone know details.

Wallowa Lake Gondola in Joseph Oregon (Hall )
Disneyland skyride in 1965
"Maybe there is no Heaven. Or maybe this is all pure gibberish—a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow—to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whisky, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested . . . Res ipsa loquitur (it speaks for it self). Let the good times roll." HT

Think viewed from the technical side the VR´s had been the best system ar this time but in my opinion it was not not the most impressive one when driving it.
I clearly prefer the sort of cableways not running as smooth as the VR´s, simply those types i got more "rock´n roll feelings"....;-))

@seilbahnbilder.ch, Merci vielmals für die genialen Bilder (many thanks for the exiting pics).
