It looks like the trees below the lift was clear cut to follow the line of the Peak 2 Peak gondola. I understand that an evac is done on the line so why do the trees below need to be cleared out?

I remember hearing they had to cut the trees down to pull the rope across during construction

They were cleared to assist in pulling the rope's. They were also cut to lay perpendicular to the lift line so that if the sand lines came to the ground, they would not get snagged.

I visited Whistler last weekend and I have to say that the new Peak 2 Peak Gondola is great! But the rest of the skiing area wasn't that exiting...

Did you ski off of the back of Blackcomb?

Is this a joke because to my knowledge, it's just a giant cliff?

Or just Blow Hole into Blackcomb Glacier, which is by no means a huge cliff.

I did it today... The first part of this run is actually very nice. But after that you have to use a very boring trail back to the upper station of the Excalibur gondola.

I have to say that is the first time I have ever heard Whistler/ Blackcomb called boring. I have never been there myself but from what I can tell from the map it has something for everyone!

I don't think that Whistler / Blackcomb is a boring ski area at all. So I really like the slopes at the Creekside Gondola, the Red Chair, the Alpine T-Bars and the Peak Express. But if I compare Whistler with equally famous resorts in Europe such as Zermatt-Cervinia, it is less interessting. In Switzerland you always hear that Whistler is TOP... Maybe that's why I was a little bit disappointed...
