So buildings are built, lifts are extended, and gondola stations are open. The new Peak 7 base area is a very convenient way to access the mountain. Independence SuperChair is now just steps from the Peak 7 turn station on the BreckConnect Gondola. One tower (tower 2A) was added, and six chairs were added, which brings the total from 113 to 119 chairs. The bottom station is nestled between the Crystal Peak Lodge (completed) and the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 (under construction). The station was converted from 90 degree to parallel loading due to two different sets of lines.

And not truly relating to Peak 7 at all, here is the the new (well used) Eldorado Platter on Peak 9 near the bottom of the Mercury SuperChair. It was built from Camelback Platter II which was located at the base of Peak 9.

Why didn't they build the Independence lift down where the lodges were going to go originally? I'm sure they had the plans for the Peak 7 base drawn up a while ago

Whew, that Platter lift looks like it's going to be de-roped by the single plankers!

Actually, I don't think that they did have plans for a Peak 7 base area when it was built. It was kinda out in the far reaches of the ski area. I guess they thought it up when the gondola was proposed that it could be a valuable site.
